Jess is currently a full-time student studying the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation degree, majoring in sport and exercise science at Auckland University of Technology. Jess is also a PT at Aimz Fitness Gym, and has been lucky enough to work closely as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Rosmini College 1st XV Rugby team and Cycling NZ. She is also involved in the HPK swim club S&C program where she collaborates alongside the Manchester United sport physiologist.
Being the sports fanatic she is, Jess enjoys watching and playing all types of sports. However, in particular, Jess loves playing competitive hockey, having played in Auckland supercity and top tier national tournament grades. Her most cherished hockey memory was travelling to Beijing and competing in the All Stars China Friendship Games, playing teams from both China and Australia.
The benefit of a strength and conditioning program within AIFSC is that skaters get the opportunity to enhance their athletic profile while at the same time reducing the risk of injuries. Jess is extremely passionate about the development of youth sport, and looks forward to implementing fitness as a way to improve not only individual physiological results but also promote leadership skills and team development through fitness. Strength and conditioning sessions aim to provide an opportunity for athletes to step out of their comfort zone and learn that hard work and dedication to the sport they love can help achieve results to succeed in their discipline.
